This is an exciting role for someone who loves turning complex engineering concepts into intuitive, web-based applications and simulations. You’ll have the freedom to design and build interactive learning tools, such as process simulators, calculators, and visual design models, that enhance how chemical and process engineering is taught online. You’ll work closely with the founder and the content team to create tools that not only educate but also drive engagement and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Design and develop interactive engineering simulations and digital tools for web and mobile.
-
Collaborate with content and product teams to translate engineering principles into user-friendly, visual interfaces.
-
Build tools that support learning outcomes — e.g. process design simulators, calculators, flow visualisers.
-
Test, debug, and optimise tools for performance, usability, and scalability.
-
Integrate tools into our existing learning platform and ensure smooth functionality.
-
Maintain and document code for ongoing improvements.
Essential Skills & Experience:
-
Proven experience in software development or web app design (commercial, freelance, or personal projects).
-
Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript (experience with frameworks like React, Vue, or Flask is ideal).
-
Understanding of numerical modelling, simulation, or data visualisation techniques.
-
Ability to translate engineering formulas and processes into interactive code.
-
Familiarity with APIs, RESTful design, and cloud-based deployment (e.g. Firebase, AWS, or similar).
-
Excellent problem-solving and creative-thinking skills.
-
Self-driven, organised, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
Desireable Skills & Experience:
-
Background in chemical/process engineering or a related STEM discipline.
-
Experience developing educational or training software.
-
Familiarity with UI/UX design principles.
-
Knowledge of mathematical modelling or simulation libraries (e.g. NumPy, SciPy, D3.js).
-
Interest in edtech, open-source projects, or online learning tools.
-
Entrepreneurial mindset, enjoys innovating and experimenting in small, agile teams.
What We Offer:
- Performance-based compensation, earn a share of revenue generated by tools or features you develop.
- Potential to progress into a Technical Product Lead or CTO-track role as we scale.
- Flexible, remote working with direct collaboration alongside the founder.
- A creative, supportive environment where new ideas are encouraged.
- Direct impact: your work will help students and professionals worldwide.
